Why
Campagna?
My wife Bracha (Benedetta) and my daughter Maya, with their charming driver Federico, run unique boutique tours in Italy, Eatalia Spirit (eatalia.co.il).
A few days after October 7th Hamas murderous attack on Israeli peaceful people, we visited with a small group of travelers the Memory and Peace Museum in a beautiful small town near Salerno, called Campagna. We were moved by the reception given to us by the mayor of the town and the director of the museum in sympathy for the disaster that befell us.
The museum tells about a thousand Jews who were quarantined there by the Nazis, where they won a dignified and free life with the help of the kind-hearted residents of the town. The Jewish prisoners led a social and cultural life including a synagogue, music, sport, art and more.
When the Nazis arrived to exterminate them, they were smuggled by the town’s residents into the woods where they hid.
When the Allies accidentally bombed the town on its residents, Jewish doctors and nurses came out of hiding and returned to the town to treat the town’s residents.
All the Jewish prisoners remained alive!!!
Some of them married local girls and moved to the United States.
Following the shocking experience, I decided that I must tell the world their story that inspires faith in the human spirit.
I would appreciate any ideas for help in raising awareness to this wonderful and hopeful place.
I am dedicating this project to the memory of my father, Antopolsky Moshe, a Holocaust hero, and my mother, Rina, both Shoah survivors, and my brother, the first child of the resurrection in Israel, Arie , and his wife Gurit.
Grazie Campagna! Grazie Italia!
